#103 Calypso

Calypso is a great project for an intermediate quilter! There are three pattern pieces that can be rotary cut along with strip piecing techniques. This quilt has been designed for using four different colorways with a light and dark value (as shown).

It could also look terrific using a light and dark value of just one color such as two shades of a blue plus a light color for contrast. Wouldn't this quilt look great for Christmas in red and green? Or how about as a scrappy quilt using your stash or fat quarters?

#104 Scrappy Leaves

My Scrappy Leaves quilt pattern began with the Lap Quilt, and evolved into taking the same quilt block to create a matching Pillow, Table Runner and Place Mats. A great beginner project for learning strip piecing and machine applique!

Or if you are a "seasoned" quilter, this is a FUN project to use your fall fabric stash or an excuse to buy more fat quarters! These projects would be good to make with a small quilt group so you could swap fabrics for an even "scrappier" look.

Skill level: Advanced Beginner

11" x 11" square for the Table Runner and Place Mat

* Pillow: 1 quilt block - 16" x 16"
* Table Runner: 3 quilt blocks - 18" x 42"
* Place Mat: 1 quilt block - 13" x 19"

#105 Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween is actually 3 separate yet coordinated projects in one pattern. All projects feature rotary cutting and strip piecing while the 2 quilts offer easy fusible machine applique!

* Smiling Jack Quilt - A FUN quilt for your front door to welcome trick or treaters! This 36 1/2" x 62" quilt features a pieced pumpkin in two different shades of orange with an machine appliqued stem, and face. The pieced "BOO!" section adds a whimsical greeting.

* Pumpkins on the Vine - This 32 1/2" x 38" quilt is a smaller version of Smiling Jack, and uses 6 different orange prints or make him scrappy! The stem and leaves are machine appliqued with a buttonhole stitch, and the vine is a machine satin stitch.

* Checkerboard Pumpkin Pillow - Do you like to do counted cross stitch and quilting? Then this project is for you. I took the main pumpkin design and created a cross stitch chart for the 5" x 6 1/2" pillow center. A simple stripped fabric border is added to the pillow center to make a 15" x 16 1/2" finished pillow. The strips are easily hand quilted using 1/4" quilters tape as a guide. A purchased bias binding finishes the pillow.

* Click on the thumbnail above to view the cross stitched pillow center.
